Letter D day complete!

Here is the last part of our Letter D day!
We found this receipe online. Just look for Dirt Cups. It is kind of a receipe you can not mess up. Perfect with 2 year olds!
Take Oreo cookies and smash them up.
Of course sampling the cookies is a necessity!!
Pour in milk
Add a Chocolate pudding package
Add cool whip Add half the Oreo cookies and stir it all up!
Use the other half of cookies and layer in cups....Voila!!
Then, we did another activity called Dime Drop
We first learned about coins. The different sizes, different amounts, different colors, etc.
Showed them how the Dime Drop works
They loved it! The noise when it hit the tin was an extra bonus.

Soooooo exciting!
They were pretty good!
At lunch time we had our favorite Dads show up!!!! Christopher's dad, Jon, is my cousin. I praise God OFTEN for the spouses my cousins have been blessed with. It is such a blessing to have people come into our family who just fit perfectly. I love being wonderful friends with family!!!!
For lunch, we had drumsticks, deviled eggs, dairy and Dorito chips!
Blake showed them the correct way to eat a drumstick. :)
Daddy Dance Party time!!
They rocked out on the Drums too!

We should have taken some video footage! HA!! The still pictures just don't do the fun justice. Fun was had by all!

Time to eat our dessert...Dirt Cups!
Christopher wasn't too sure about eating worms.
Aubrey Rose didn't seem to mind. Not sure if I should worry. :)
LOVED having our dads join in the Letter D day!
We also learned about ducks! Across the street from our house is a "lake." :) We went and fed the ducks.
The ducks were so far away when we got there, so we called them over!
One by one they came and pretty soon we had a bunch to feed!

God brought a Dragonfly to visit too!!
Such a wonderful day!!!!

Dig in the Dirt!

After learning a little about the Letter D inside, we moved outside to do an activity that was probably the FAVORITE activity of the day. Such simple things, make such a wonderful learning experience!
First they found and counted all the "d's" on the sign.
Then outside they were greeted with this...
We collected items from around the house that started with the letter D and we hid them in the dirt.
They began to dig...and dig...
The first treasure they found was sooooo exciting!
And it just got better and better after that!
Dolphin
Dinosaur
Dragon
deer
dog
and so many more!
Digging in the dirt was so much fun in itself. The treasures and learning what started with D was a bonus.

Then they played IN the bucket together for awhile.
We want to do this activity again, but maybe incorporate other sensory items like coffee grounds, rice, pasta noodles, oatmeal, beans, etc. The possibilities are endless!!

Letter D

The Letter D was quite a success! We had such a fun day!

We started with a really healthy breakfast of Donuts! HA! Hey, it starts with D!
They both actually were not fans of the donuts, which made their mommies hearts proud. :)Actually I think Christopher's word after one bite of the donut was, "Yuck." HA!!!

Then, it was time to learn the LETTER D!!!
We started with coloring the letter Dd.
And we read a Bible story about Daniel and the Lions Den. I love how Aubrey Rose is still bringing up this story and about how Daniel prayed (as she folds her hands and bows her head) even when he was put in the den with the "Roaaaarrr." So precious!

I love this picture of these two. They are becoming quite the cute, little friends. LOVE it!!

Our little cousin preschool :)

We have made it to the Letter D! We are already onto planning E! I have been getting some questions about our little cousin preschool days, so I thought I would just chat about it on here. Who knows you might have had the same questions. :)

Are we going to go all the way to Z??
Our answer: WHO KNOWS???? God knows...that is for sure!!! We have talked that we sure hope we won't have to get all the way to Z by the time we add more cousins to the mix! HA! Hint, hint...FAMILY!! :)

You must take so much time planning these days?!!
Actually type in Letter A or Letter B or whatever you are looking for into the search engine on the Internet and you might be just like me...soooooooooo impressed with how easy it is to find ideas. Andrea and I just email our ideas of what we have found and then we pick out our favorites and start pulling the details together. The planning really does not take long and especially when doing it with a friend, it takes half the work away already!

How do you split the tasks?
Once we plan together what crafts, lessons, meals, etc we are going to do, we usually split up the duties with one person bringing the food and the other handles the crafts. It has worked out GREAT! And you will notice it really is not that much to handle when the duties are cut in half!

You must be together all day to accomplish all that!!
Just remember we are working with 2 year olds here. Attention spans are not too long, so each craft is done pretty quick. We ususally get together from about 9am to 1pm. After that we are ALL ready for a nap. HA!

Is it helping???
I am continually amazed at how much Aubrey Rose picks up from each of our days we have spent together. Aubrey Rose did not recognize the specific letters before we began. I think the most entertaining thing for me is she knows A, B and now D. For some reason she skips over C. I think because we didn't REALLY teach the letter C, but we had the BEST days visiting the COWS!! Oh well, she did learn that cows make milk, what a baby calf is, how fun the dairy can be and so much more. She is constantly asking to go see Macey and Tor-Tor and their "Mooooooo Cows!" Wonderful memories, with so many more to come I am sure!
I told Andrea last time I get giddy, like Christmas morning, when these days come around. I am blessed to be doing this with someone that feels the same. The kids LOVE it! We love it!! And most importantly, the our little ones are learning! Such a blessing!!!

Here is a sneak peak into the Letter D! More to come!!
Digging in the Dirt for "D" treasures!
We learned about how Daniel was faithful to pray no matter what came his way.
Dirt Cups
Oh yeah!! The Daddy's came for lunch time and we had a DADDY DANCE PARTY!! HA!
Fed the ducks...so fun!

Just hang in there. As I said before, there is more to come. In the meantime, if you have any other questions OR IDEAS for other letters, we are open to them!
